Halloween is tomorrow!
As we bulk-bought the pillow-sized bags of candy from CVS and Rite Aid, I thought back to the little ghosts and ghouls in the past that have rung my door bell and asked for an alternative treat because of a food allergy. In the past, we’ve always kept a few treats on hand just in case, but those adorable trick-or-treaters may not have been so lucky as they ran around the block.
Here at Name Bubbles, food allergy causes will always be close to our hearts, and on our minds. This Halloween we were super excited to hear about a new initiative started by FARE (Food Allergy Resource & Education) to paint the pumpkins teal! Their new initiative is called The Teal Pumpkin Project.
“This campaign encourages people to raise awareness of food allergies by providing non-food treats for trick-or-treaters and painting a pumpkin teal – the color of food allergy awareness – to place in front of their house along with a free printable sign from FARE to indicate they have non-food treats available.”
What a fun idea – and people are really getting into it!
