Happy New Year! As the Holiday season comes to an end and another year begins, I always feel the need to weed out the old and get organized. I’ve already put away the Christmas decor, lived with a bare house for a few days, and am now in the mood to start going through the loads of papers and stuff. Do you feel the same way?
Aside from throwing away or donating, I’m sometimes at a lose on how to make my life easier for the coming year and how to make the household run more efficiently. With a little research, I have put together a slew of clever and creative (and practically free) ways to get organized.
Clever & Creative Idea #1
Marker and Pen Holder – We all have leftover toilet paper holders, so instead of throwing them away, upcycle. Using an old shoebox, simply add the cardboard paper tubes standing up. No glue or tape needed.

Clever & Creative Idea #2
Kitchen cabinet interior holder for measuring cups – Why not use the inside of the cabinet door for your measuring cups? Usually bulky and awkward, this is a super creative idea instead of having the measuring cups and spoons screwn throughout the drawers. The inside of the cabinet door is also a great spot for adding a corkboard that could hold your week’s dinner menu, grocery list, or any other organizational paper(s).

Clever & Creative Idea #3
Makeup Magnet Board – Instead of piled in a basket, it’s quite clever to add a magnet to your makeup containers and hang them on a magnetized picture frame. It not only makes life easier to find a specific container, but it also duals as art.

Dish-Rack Coloring Station – Keeping crayons, markers, and kids supplies in one place is often difficult, but with this easy and inexpensive solution, it’s a breeze. Plus it’s portable, which is a helpful plus!

Clever & Creative Idea #5
Paper clip cord organizer – With multiple electronic devices including cellphones, computers, tablets, speakers, etc. comes a whole lotta cords. With a plethora of like colored cords, it’s sometimes difficult to know ‘what goes to what’ and this creative and practically free idea is super clever. Add a tie or label to the paper clip and you’ll never question ‘what is what’ again.
Clever & Creative Idea #6
Ribbon organizer – As a crafter, I have many spools of ribbon and using an inexpensive slotted tupperware bin is an ideal solution to keep all the spools together and organized.

Wrapping paper organization – Whether it’s leftover Christmas paper or a fun themed birthday paper, the long tubes of wrapping paper are simply, awkward. To keep them from unraveling, I’ve always added a piece of tape, but then it tears when used next. Well, this is the perfect solution. Using eye hooks and some string, your wrapping paper can finally be in one spot and completely organized.
